Wendy to share expertise at health seminar

A CHEMOTHERAPY assistant from the Royal Hampshire County Hospital has been invited to present a poster detailing her role at a leading conference in Southampton.

Wendy Brice has worked on the Nick Jonas unit at the Winchester hospital for three years.

The unit, named after a former chairman of the Trust, is the oncology ward and houses the chemotherapy suite for the hospital.

She is one of the first chemotherapy assistants in the south, a medical assistant specially trained in cannulation (inserting small tubes for giving intravenous drugs to patients), taking blood and monitoring central lines and dressings.

Julie Adams, sister on Nick Jonas ward, said: "Wendy's is a key role within the chemotherapy team, her expertise helps to ease the pressure on trained nurses and improves the patient experience.

"We are very pleased that she will be able to share her knowledge with other healthcare professionals."

She will give the presentation to delegates at the Central South Coast Cancer Network (CSCCN) next month.
