Workrun, a business networking group that incorporates running, is gaining momentum after its launch last month.

The group organises monthly 5k runs for professionals looking for networking opportunities and its first run saw a turnout of 15 people in Southampton, prompting the group's initiator, Mr Rich Webley of Alresford, to plan a second run in Winchester.

Mr Webley said: "We’ve all had our fair share of networking events that won’t end soon enough, and for some people, the thought of turning up to a room full of people they don’t know fills them with dread.

"In contrast, running is naturally social and an easy way to meet new people without trying - that’s why we started Workrun.

"That said, running for some people may feel a bit daunting too. But each route is planned by England Athletics qualified Run Leaders and are very accessible.

"We jog at a slow, conversational pace, so we can chat business as well. It’s great to be outdoors and have an easy (and healthy) way to grow our networks."

Workruns, which are free of charge, take place on the first Thursday of every month in Winchester and on the third Wednesday in Southampton, both kicking off at 6pm.
