A YOUNG racing driver from Alresford has partnered with a local business for the upcoming season.

Frank Ward, 14, is being sponsored by period and country home specialists Anscombe and Son to help him achieve his goal of winning races on a national level.

Perins School pupil Frank is taking to tracks all over the UK this year, racing for glory against the best drivers in the country in the National Kart Cup.

Karts race millimetres apart at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour in extremely close racing. Frank, who has had a strong start to the season in testing, is hoping to build on the foundations of last year and be a championship contender.

Jason Harris, managing director for Anscombe and Sons, said: “Anscombe and Sons is delighted to give back to the community by helping local people achieve their dreams. It’s a real pleasure to see a young person from our local area striving towards their goal and everyone at Anscombe and Sons is excited to watch Frank’s progress this year.”

Frank said: “I’m so excited that Anscombe and Sons is supporting me, as this will push me towards my dreams of working in motorsport. Having lived in this area all my life, I am so pleased to have a local business championing me this year. This support will make a huge difference to my karting, enabling me to race at the highest level. Racing is my passion and karting is expensive and I could not do this without Anscombe and Sons’ support. Their incredible generosity and faith has really shown how fabulous our community can be to its young people.”
