MUSIC in Romsey Abbey has launched its series of concert events for 2024.

The launch, on Saturday, February 10, was attended by guests from across the Test Valley, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Test Valley, Cllr Philip Lashbrook and Cllr Linda Lashbrook, and the Mayor of Romsey, Cllr John Ray.

In his welcome, the Rev Thomas Wharton, Vicar of Romsey, thanked the volunteers.

He said: “It is a joy to be able to welcome so many performers to the abbey each year and support them in raising funds for worthy causes. We couldn’t do this without the many volunteers who give generously of their time to run the events.”

Chris Green, concerts administrator, said: “Last year’s highlights included the Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines, the cast of RAODS as part of the Mayor’s Charity Concert, and the Abbey choristers performing alongside Michelmersh Silver Band. We’re thrilled that these groups are all returning in the coming weeks.”

The Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines, Collingwood, will return for another showcase concert in Romsey Abbey on February 24, featuring the Corps of Drums.

Tickets for this and other events including the mayor of Romsey’s charity concert on March 2 are now on sale.
