A HAMPSHIRE kebab van owner has spoken of his delight at being shortlisted for a national award.
The Boss Kebab van is parked up next to McCarthy's farm shop in Winchester Road, between Shedfield and Wickham.
It has been nominated for the Kebab Van of the Year at the British Kebab Awards.
Owner Siyami Er told the Chronicle that he has had the van for three years. As well as kebabs, he also serves pizza and breakfast fare.
Mr Er said: “We have been shortlisted as one of the best kebab vans in the UK for 2024. It's great, it means my customers are proud of me as well. They feel lucky and proud to have a meal from one of the best kebab vans in the UK.

“It's amazing because we have been here for such a short time, some places have been trading for more than 20 years and have won nothing. It's hard work, we have seven or eight of us working here in the evenings sometimes.”
The van serves homemade doner kebabs on Saturday evenings. The award nomination was as a result of votes from customers.
Mr Er added that people from the British Kebab Awards visited the van to inspect hygiene, food quality and customer service.
The awards ceremony will be held at the Park Plaza Westminster Hotel in London on February 27.
