Just a short note to say a huge thank you to the Hampshire Chronicle for the lovely editorial (January 4) on our running day.  Our members were delighted and indeed touched by it.

The coverage was fantastic and I have been bowled over by the wonderful support that the Hampshire Chronicle has provided in its various forms for our charity. It has helped us hugely. Thank you.

The acid test of the effectiveness of the publicity for me was driving the King Alfred No 9 service from Crawley, arriving at Dean Lane Corner and picki ng up eight people at the stop, all of whom were deliberately waiting for us. The only way they could have known to do this was by reading the Hampshire Chronicle (and taking notice of it!)! For me, this little campaign has really shown that local papers (in the right hands!) work, which I suspected all along, but I'm pleased to have had it so amply demonstrated.

Meanwhile, thanks again and best wishes for the New Year just started.
