The first Princess Parade in Winchester will take place on August 24, from 12-2pm.

Eight fairytale characters will be meeting at the Buttercross, where they will stop to sing, dance and take pictures with families.

They will then walk down the High Street to Abbey Gardens for another performance and a 'meet and greet'.

The parade is free of charge and the local community are encouraged to dress up for the event.

There will also be a fancy dress competition for the children dressed in their best princess/superhero/character outfits.

The event has been highly anticipated online, with over 2,100 people responding so far, but it will be streamed live on Facebook and Instagram pages.

Anna Tucker, director of the show, hopes to make it a yearly phenomenon. She said: "After several very successful parades in Kent, Berkshire and London I’m so excited to be bringing the Snow Princess magic to Winchester this year.”

She added: “Our aim is to bring some magic, love and joy to little ones and give them an unforgettable experience right on their doorstep.”
