REPORTER Matt Rooks-Taylor is at Boomtown for the Hampshire Chronicle. Here's how the fourth day of the festival went...

I woke up early to the sound of wind battering my tent, the weather was cold, wet and miserable.

Having recovered from the excitement of the night before, the daytime at Boomtown: Chapter Two: The Twin Trail felt very calm.

I took it easy, and aimed to crack on with a list of things I planned to do.

As I headed to the press centre, I heard a voice behind me say: "Hey, you in the newspaper hat."

I turned around and was face-to-face with an actress who told me she plays the part of a reporter at Boomtown's 'Daily Rag', and she invited me to visit the office where "The other reporters will make fun of you", she seemed nice.

After finishing up a bit of work, around 2:30 I hiked over the vast fields to 'Letsbe Avenue', and visited the headquarters of the Daily Rag.

It seemed I had unwittingly immersed myself in Boomtown's famous storyline, which, if successfully completed, will win the participant a 'mystery prize' - which is usually a ticket to a secret party.

When I got to the post office, rather than being given a form to change my name, I was given a dress that I needed to "get dirty" and "take to the launderette".

So, I did just that and was sent back to the Post Office with some more dirty clothes.

It was at this moment I realised that I must have done something wrong as I didn't actually have one yet.

So I went to find the place where I could get one but was distracted by a man with a water pistol being chased by a number of people dressed in gold. It was like a fever dream!

My thoughts turned to my stomach and I went to a nearby Chinese food vendor and bought some sweet and sour noodles, and I sat down in front of the Grand Central stage to eat them.

By this time, it was 4pm, and I had forgotten about the storyline as I was distracted by a performance by Sudan Archives on the stage in front of me.

As I walked around throughout the day, I once again had the famous words "Up the Blues" said to me by passers-by who noticed my retro Portsmouth FC shirt, compared to the one person who said something about my Barcelona shirt the day before, I can only conclude that Pompey are massive.

As evening fell, I took a tour of Old Town, Area 404 and Metropolis, visiting a metal band and a few rave rooms, before making my way back to the Grand Central stage for the highlight of the night: Cypress Hill.

They performed the entirety of the album: 'Black Sunday', as this year is the 30th anniversary of its release.

I have to say, it was my favourite performance of this whole festival so far. It was a nice change of pace to see a big, powerful set from a hip-hop band, after experiencing, perhaps a little oversaturation of Drum and Bass DJs.

I can't believe it's almost over already. The end of the festival looms, but with the likes of Sister Sledge, Loyle Carner and Chase and Status, day five looks set to be a big one.
