WESTLEY Lane, in Sparsholt, will be closed for a week of patching works. From Monday, July 31 to Tuesday, August 8 the road will be closed every weekday between 8am to 4pm.

The road will re-open outside these hours. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained wherever possible and pedestrians should always be able to get through.

The improvement works are part of Hampshire County Council’s maintenance programme Operation Resilience.

EVERSLEY Park Playground finally re-opened on Monday, July 17 after months of issues. Kings Worthy Parish Council hopes to get the play tower up as soon as possible but a date has not been confirmed.

Glass and broken ceramics were found in the area last month meaning the new top soil had to be removed and replaced with a higher grade to ensure the same doesn’t happen again.

The parish council assured residents that it was not the work of vandals. Play area users are being urged to “make every effort to keep off the newly seeded areas”.

A NEW wooden train at the The King Charles, in Kings Worthy, has been named by eight-year-old Nathan Ainscow.

A ribbon cutting will formally open the ‘The King Charles Express’, in Lovedon Lane, on Friday, July 21 at 5pm with visitors welcome to watch Nathan cut the ribbon, with fizz for the adults and sweets for the kids.

THE Cart and Horses is nearing completion ahead of its opening date. On Tuesday, July 25 the pub, in London Road, will throw open its doors to the public following its £1m refurbishment and three-month closure.

LITTLETON and Harestock Parish Action on the Climate Emergency (PACE) is encouraging residents to save the date for a mini Eco-Fair outside the March Hare pub on Saturday, September 30. 

The event is still being planned but the group hopes to provide information on energy efficiency, recycling opportunities, waste prevention and more. 

THE wooded area behind the Running Horse Inn, in Littleton, is up for sale. Littleton and Harestock Parish Council wishes to hear from residents who use the route to walk through following a number of concerns that this would no longer be allowed if the land was bought.

Savills is marketing the 0.9 acre site off Main Road for a guide price of £200,000. The parish council said it has considered “a number of options which may or may not succeed”. To share information with the council contact the clerk at clerk@lhpc.org.uk.

LITTLETON Safari Supper returns on Saturday, July 29. Participants will move to a different house for each course from 7.15pm to 10.30pm, with each household hosting one course (starter, main or dessert).

The evening will end with coffee together at a central location. Tickets cost £17.50 per person with proceeds going towards the upkeep of St Catherine’s Church. There are a limited number of tickets available for people who are unable to host.
