The Alzheimer Society’s Dementia Action Week this year runs between May 15 and 21 and Romsey is planning a week of activities.

To start the week, Greenbuttercup CIC is hosting a free production of Roots and Branches by five actors aged 18-25 years from the Theatre of Life.

The 25 minutes of reminiscence, theatre and singing is based on a true love story, and follows the lives of Brian and Anne stretching back nearly 70 years, from their first meeting at a dance in 1953 shortly after the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, to their less than ideal living quarters during naval officer Brian’s posting in Malta.

Historical moments, archive footage, songs, and radio clips are integrated around the scenes.

The performance will be supported by a 20 minute creative workshop, providing an opportunity for group members to discuss their favourite memories, moments and songs from the show. There will also be the chance to sing a couple of well-known songs featured in the production.

Light refreshments will be available after the workshop for a donation.

The production will take place on Monday, May 15 at Abbotswood Community Centre, at 10.45am for 11am.

The event is free, but pre-booking is required at greenbuttercupdementiaservices@gmail.com or 01794 501605.
