Police are hunting a man who assaulted and racially abused a taxi driver after an argument broke out between the pair while they were driving.
Officers say an altercation took place between the taxi driver and a male passenger while they were travelling on Southwick Road in Denmead shortly after 9.20pm on Sunday, April 17.
The taxi driver, a man in his 40s, stopped the taxi, a red Toyota Prius, and both he and the passenger got out of the vehicle.
The passenger then assaulted the taxi driver before pursuing him from the roundabout at the junction with Forest Road, towards the junction with Hambledon Road while being racially abusive.
The man is described as between 50 and 60-years-old, muscular, with grey and brown receding hair and a grey beard. He was said to be wearing a dark polo shirt, dark blue jeans, white trainers and glasses at the time of the incident.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: “Do you recognise the man from the description? Perhaps you were in the area at the time and witnessed the incident?We would like to speak to him in connection with an assault and a racially aggravated public order incident in Denmead.
