A Romsey Co-op has been fined after staff were caught selling alcohol to two 17-year-olds during a police sting.
Hampshire Constabulary's Licensing Team used the two teenage volunteers to visit eight premises in Romsey on Saturday, February 26 to test age verification policies and training.
Staff at seven of the shops passed the test by requesting ID and refusing the sale of alcohol to the 17-year-old volunteers.
However, employees at the Co-op in Saxon Way failed the test, and as such, a £90 fixed penalty notice was handed out along with words of advice from officers.
Licensing officer Colin Pollard said: “We’re pleased that nearly all of the premises passed the test, although it’s disappointing to see that staff at one failed.
“We will look to visit this premises again in the coming months.
“Operations like this one reduce the risk of young people being involved in anti-social behaviour, committing offences or becoming a victim of crime themselves.
“We will continue to run these operations throughout the year to help keep our communities safe.”
