A WINCHESTER man who admitted punching his neighbour in a drug-fuelled attack has escaped a prison sentence.
Andrew Stacey, who attacked Richard Sambells on the doorstep of his flat at Forder Court, St Cross Road, in April last year, pleaded guilty in October to charges of actual bodily harm and today (November 22) was given a community order and a six month drug rehabilitation programme.
During sentencing at Winchester Crown Court today, Judge David Griffiths told the 40-year-old: "If you can stay off drugs there's a very real prospect that the violent offending that accompanies your drug use will recede in the future."
