Cycling length of Britain

TWO cyclists from the Winchester area are travelling the length of the UK to help revamp a campsite for disabled children.

Tim Dicker, from Alresford, and Ben Wood, from Winchester, will begin their two-week ride from Lands End to John O'Groats on Saturday (September 8). Together with a colleague from Oxfordshire, the trio are hoping to raise more than £5,000 for Surrey-based Woodlarks Camp Site, which is a charity dedicated to providing camping facilities for disabled people of all ages. The charity is trying to raise £1.6 million for a major re-build to improve facilities.

Mr Dicker, 32, said: "It's going to be a huge challenge for us as we have not attempted anything like this before. We aim to raise lots of money and make the much-needed redevelopment of the site's buildings become a reality."

Alexine Crawford, chairman of Woodlarks, said: "We are raising money for a major re-build in order to bring our facilities up to a standard to take us through the 21st century. Not only are we grateful for the funds they will raise, we also much appreciate the publicity this will give to our project."
