STUDENTS have supported a breast cancer charity for the second year running with some hanging baskets with a difference.

Led by psychology teacher Chrissie Rycroft, a team of staff and students have adorned the Peter Symonds campus with hanging baskets made using bras.

The bras have been filled with flowers and foliage in shades of pink, white and purple, breast cancer awareness colours.

Staff members contributed flowers for the ‘bra-skets’ and money from donations will go to Breast Cancer Care.

Alongside the bra-skets are tennis balls in the Wimbledon colours to promote ‘Wim ball done’ - to raise awareness of testicular cancer, which mainly affects young and middle-aged men, but about six per cent of cases occur in children. Incidence rates are projected to rise by 12 per cent between 2014 and 2035.

Ms Rycroft said: “After the success of last year’s hanging bra-skets campaign we wanted to continue our efforts to promote Breast Cancer Care. This was also a great opportunity to expand the campaign by using the tennis balls as a way to discuss issues around testicular cancer.”
