A GRANDMOTHER of triplets and twins smashed her fundraising goal after taking on a 10K run in aid of a twins and multiple births charity.

Dr Jenny Livy, from Shawford, near Winchester, ran the British 10k in London on Sunday, along with her two daughters, Susie and Ruth, in a bid to raise nearly £2,000 for Tamba.

The ex-head of science at St Swithuns School, said: “Tamba has given me and my children so much support and advice over the years that it is great to be able to give something back and support them.

“This charity is such a help to parents and grandparents of multiples. Unless you have been involved with triplets or twins you have no idea of what it is like.”

Tamba also funds essential research into medical conditions affecting multiples, such as twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome and twin growth charts.

Jenny, whose mother was a twin, first became a grandparent when her son Joseph became the father of triplet boys Marcus, Toby and Josh. He has since had another son, Benjamin.

Her daughter Susie has a girl, Matilda, and identical twins Alice and Jemima. Her younger daughter Ruth has a girl, Isabella, and identical twins Sophie and Emma.

However, Jenny didn’t get much time to train for the race, thanks to her 10 grandchildren under five years old.

Commenting on the scorching conditions over the weekend, Dr Livy said: “It was so hot Virgin Sports put the event on red alert. The announcer kept saying this is not the day for PBs just take it slowly.

“I had hoped to be faster but it was not the day for it.”

So far she has smashed her target of £1,750, raising £2,230.
