HUNDREDS headed to the green as villagers came together for a day of fun in the balmy weekend sun.

Families flocked to the annual COMMON Have a Go community fun day on Colden Common Green.

The event, now in its third year, included live entertainment from the Pompey Pluckers Ukelele Band, the Wessex Chordsmen barbershop choir, and local Aucott School of Dance.

There was a bevy of stalls and activities including tombola, face painting, inflatables slides and zorbing, have-a-go sports, and even a human fruit machine.

Leiah Ikafa, assistant administrator at Colden Common Community Centre, said: “It was the third one we have done. The weather helped. We have had a lot of disruption at the community centre this year with management leaving and a new board of trustees.

“It was the best one we have had, very well organised. A lot of effort went in to it and all the feedback has been positive.”
