VOLUNTEERS joined trustees and staff at for a special ‘thank you’ lunch in Winchester.

Friends of the Family’s annual event took place at Zizzi’s restaurant in High Street earlier this month to thank volunteers for their dedication and commitment to the charity and the children and families they support.

All of the volunteers are befrienders with the charity’s five to 13 befriending service, which is marking its tenth anniversary this year.

The volunteers spend two hours a week visiting a child and supporting them, both practically and emotionally through the difficulties they are facing.

Lisa Travers, volunteer co-ordinator, said: “This is our chance to show our volunteers how much they mean to us and to thank them for their hard work, their enthusiasm and their commitment to the children. It was a really enjoyable lunch and wonderful that so many could join us to mark our tenth anniversary year.”
