CIVIC chiefs have launched a review into the state of parking in Winchester.

Drivers using the car parks in the city centre have been returning to their vehicles to find surveys placed on their windscreens.

The consultation, being carried out by Winchester City Council, asks motorists about their reason for choosing a particular car park, and about their journey beforehand.

It follows a push in Winchester over the past year to clean up the city’s air quality, with the council investing more money into its park and ride scheme – including the purchase of the Coventry House land in Barfield Close from Vaultex UK Ltd for an undisclosed amount of money.

There has also been a push to get resident-only parking in some areas, including Winnall, to stop commuters taking up spaces outside of the car parks.

For drivers who haven’t yet received a copy of the survey, it is available to fill out online at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/wincpsurvey.
