WINCHESTER Labour Party has attacked anti-semitism in the wake of the investigation into a Winchester academic.
The university has launched an inquiry into social media comments by Jane Dipple, a party member and lecturer in media and communication.
An article from the The Daily Stormer website was shared from her account. The name is an echo from the extremely anti-semitic Der Stürmer newspaper published in Nazi Germany. It was headlined ‘BBC to Replace Male Jew Political Editor with Female Jew.’
In a statement the chairman of the local party, Peter Rees said: “Jane Dipple is not a current or past member of Winchester Labour Party.
“I fully endorse the reported comments from the Labour Party about this content.
“We condemn any form of anti-semitism whether it be within the party itself, within any organisation or in society as whole. I hope that the investigation by Winchester University and the Labour Party into the allegations made by Huff Post about anti-semitic postings by this person in social media will be concluded soon.”
