MORE details have been emerged about a £2.5 million project to improve Winchester's shopping centre.

The Brooks Shopping Centre, which has been encased in scaffolding an sheeting for several weeks already, is undergoing a transformation, following the addition of its newest shop, TK Maxx.

The work will see the entire centre freshly painted, with updated signage, a new brighter lighting system and glazed exterior doors on both entrances installed.

A spokeswoman said the renovation has already sparked interest from new retailers, with a number of openings on the horizon in 2018.

Ilan Goldman, European director at The Brooks' landlord Catalyst Capital, said: “We have been working tirelessly in the background since acquiring in 2015; following extensive reconfiguration, bringing TK Maxx to Winchester got The Brooks off to a fantastic start to 2018 and the refurbishment works will further enhance the offer.

"The scheme offers an affordable alternative to the High Street and is already attracting new brands to Winchester.

"We are looking forward to announce further new additions over the coming months.”

All shops are remaining open throughout the refurbishment, which is due to be completed in May.
