THE providers of care homes in Winchester have been hailed as amongst the best in the country.
Which? consumer watchdog has rated Sunrise Senior Living as third best and Greensleeves as fourth best.
They are the two best performers in the south-east, according to a report entitled Finding a way through the broken care system.
Sunrise runs 54 homes including one on Stockbridge Road, Fulflood, and Greensleeves operates 20, including St Cross Grange, on St Cross Road, St Cross.
Which?’s findings were based on the percentage of homes rated as either inadequate or requiring improvement by inspectors. The figure for Sunrise was 1.9 per cent and for Greensleeves 5 per cent. At the other end of the scale Ideal Care Homes had 63.5 per cent with those two ratings.
Both Sunrise and Greensleeves performed better than larger operators such as Bupa and Four Seasons.
