A MONTHLY charity walk in Micheldever Station has raised over £1,000 for its chosen charity.

The First-Sunday-in-the-Month Walkers who set out on a different walk from the Warren Centre every month have been raising cash for Men of Oar - a team hoping to raise £250,000 for charity by rowing across the Atlantic this December.

Sam Bolt-Lawrence, from Micheldever Station, is part of a crew of four that will take part in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, rowing 3,000 miles to Antigua in self-supporting boatswith enough supplies for the entire voyage and the ability to make potable water from the sea.The crew have been preparing with courses on survival and navigation.

Men of Oar will be at Tesco in Winnall on March 11 with rowing demonstrations and talks about the challenge and their two chosen charities Combat Stress and Bowel Cancer UK.
