SIR: When I receive a compliment on what I’m wearing I’m often able to say it’s come from the Wessex Cancer Trust shop in Stoney Lane.
I’ve been telling friends for a number of years what a gem of a place it is, along with the more recently opened Countess Mountbatten Boutique next door, offering a more pleasant and interesting shopping experience than a typical high street chain. Our family were supported by both charities during our daughter’s terminal illness ten years ago so I have since taken items into the shops to sell whenever I can and am always impressed by the friendly, hard-working volunteers. On every occasion I’ve stopped for a browse and come away with something delightful for a very reasonable price – always in immaculate condition and sometimes brand new.
I was sorry to read on these pages of problems experienced by the Wessex Cancer Trust shop and do hope they can be resolved.
