PLANS for a major revamp of Winchester city centre will go on tour next week to give residents the chance to have their say.

The draft supplementary planning document (SPD), which in October revealed how architects JTP aimed to develop the Silver Hill area, will be making its first stop at Alresford Community Centre on Wednesday, January 10, between 11am and 2pm, and 4pm to 7pm.

Plans will then be available to view at The Brooks Shopping Centre on Thursday, January 11 between 11am and 3pm; at Winchester Bus Station, 3pm-6pm; Winchester railway station between 4pm-7pm on Friday, January 12.

The tour then returns to The Brooks on Saturday, January 13, 9.30am-5pm, before visiting St Maurice’s Covert between 9am-noon on Sunday, January 14, and concluding at The King’s Church in Bishop’s Waltham, 11am- 2pm, and 4pm-7pm on Monday, January 15.

Copies of the draft SPD can also be viewed in libraries in Winchester, Alresford, Bishop’s Waltham, Waterlooville, Eastleigh, Chandler’s Ford, Fareham and Romsey.

As previously reported, the Silver Hill 2 project, officially known as the Central Winchester Regeneration (CWR) project, follows the collapse of a previous multi-million pound scheme in 2016.The plans will see a mixed-use quarter created, celebrating the city’s culture and heritage while also including spaces for retail, leisure, commerce and housing.

The formal consultation over the SPD closes at noon on Monday, February 5.
