HAMPSHIRE Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has joined with a new university partner to train the next generation of nurses and midwives.

The trust has agreed to offer placements at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital for students studying nursing and midwifery at the University of West London’s Reading campus.

Donna Green, chief nurse at Hampshire Hospitals, which also runs the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, said: “We are passionate about education and work very hard to ensure all nurses and midwives who join us on placements have the opportunity to experience working across a wide range of areas.”

Staff from the university and Hampshire Hospitals will be available to discuss your options during a special recruitment event at The Ark Conference Centre, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, on Friday December 15. Staff from the trust and the university will give presentations from 10am, with tours of the hospital between 1pm and 2pm. Book a place by visiting uwl.ac.uk/nursinginberkshire.

Places are available on courses beginning in February and September 2018 and Dr Wendy Wigley, head of pre-registration nursing at the University of West London, said: “We are excited about meeting people interested in studying nursing and midwifery with us at this recruitment event.

“We are really pleased to have joined up with Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to enable more students to carry out placements close to Reading, where they are studying.”
