PUPILS have raised money for charity by taking part in a sponsored ‘skipathon’.

Stanmore Primary School raised funds for the British Heart Foundation by taking part in the Jump Rope for Heart event.

Pupils skipped for the entire day, with children from each year taking part in in half hour sessions in the school hall from 9am-3pm.

Younger children took part in skipping exercises, while older ones tried double Dutch skipping with long ropes. The school plans to continue their fundraising, with events taking place during break times in the hope of reaching the target of £600.

Pupils will continue to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, as the student council SPEAK have chosen it as their adopted charity.

As well as skipping in the run up to the event the children also learned how to maintain ‘happy, healthy hearts.’

PE manager Wendy Buckett, who oversaw the day, said: “I was really heartened to see the kids throw themselves into it and thrilled at their enthusiasm. I would like to thank the British Heart Foundation giving us the ropes and the support they have provided.”
