COMMUNITY organisations across Hampshire are being encouraged to bid for a slice of £1 million.

Police and Crime Commissioner Michael Lane is offering groups the chance to receive funding from the Safer Communities Fund, which is worth £1 million.

The fund was established to provide financial support for organisations that work with victims of crime and anti-social behaviour, and to help reduce offending.

Each business can apply for up to £50,000.

Mr Lane said: “There are hundreds of voluntary organisations, from small and local, to large and national, working to help keep us safer.“I want to do what I can to ensure that these organisations are supported to enable them to deliver quality services that improve people’s lives.“This year I am looking forward to receiving applications from both existing and new providers with exciting and innovative approaches to support my vision for a safer Hampshire and Isle of Wight.”
