A HAMPSHIRE family is celebrating five generations with the arrival of a great great granddaughter.

Marion Dyke, 94, from Sutton Scotney, near Winchester, had the chance to meet baby Ariella, aged four months, who now has a granny, great granny and great great granny.

Marion said last night: “I’m 94 years old and still going strong. We get together around once a fortnight and Ariella is doing good.”

Natalie Merriman, 28, from Fareham, Ariella’s mum, added: “For Mother’s Day we went out to a local pub in Sutton Scotney and we met a family who were four generations, we said we were five and their jaws nearly hit the floor.

“I think that was when the reality of it hit. It is really quite lovely.

“It just feels like a pretty special occasion and we are quite proud to be able to celebrate it with the arrival of my daughter.

“The whole family is beyond excited about it – there’s lots of visits and cuddles!”

The celebration saw Natalie joined by her mum Nikki Harris, 48, from Wokingham, Nikki’s mum Susan Davies, 65, from Bracknell, both in Berkshire, and Natalie’s two sisters Charlotte and Emily.
