VENUES around Winchester are celebrating after being accredited at the annual Best Bar None awards.
The scheme by Winchester Business Improvement District (BID) is to encourage the city's night-time economy venues to be assessed to become Best Bar None accredited, meaning they demonstrate an exemplary level of service and standard of quality.
The successful venues are Alfie’s on the Broadway, The Old Gaolhouse on Jewry Street, O’Neill’s on the High Street, The Railway Inn on St Paul's Hill, The Mucky Duck on Hyde Street, The Royal Oak off the High Street, The Slug and Lettuce at The Square, The Westgate at the top of the High Street, The William Walker at The Square, and Winchester's Guildhall.
The evening at the Guildhall also saw the two overall Winchester Best Bar None winners crowned for demonsting excellence above and beyond what is expected.
The large venue overall winner was Winchester Guildhall and the small venue overall winner was The Old Gaolhouse.
These two venues will now compete for the National Best Bar None event at the House of Lords in London, where cities across the UK compete for the title.
