THE long-awaited winners of Droxford's Scarecrow Festival have been revealed.

Nearly 100 scarecrows took over the village near Winchester after families were busy creating their work using straw, frames and sacks since the beginning of the month.

There were 91 entries on parade in gardens, outside businesses and in public spots, and on September 23, the best were decided at a party to mark the end of the festival.

In first place was Alison Thomas, of Chestnut Rise, for her Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of Caribbean film series.

Second prize went to Nigel and Jo Spelman, of North End Lane, for their 'Out twerking in the garden' scarecrow.

Third place was for 'Man on Bike' by Sam and Lucinda Crutchfield, of South Hill.

Other entries included a burglar on a drainpipe, Donald Trump, complete with his much-wanted wall, and popstar Ed Sheeran.

The event was put on to fundraise to renovate the village cricket pavilion.
