FRIENDS from a Hampshire school reunited for what could be the last time.

The group of girls from Winchester High School for Girls - which is now the Westgate School - met for their annual drinks and buffet at the White Horse in Ampfield.

But it could be the last time, as many of the alumni are now approaching their 80s.

And there was slight disappointment as around half the group couldn't make it due to M3 chaos, which had some drivers stuck on the motorway after a "serious incident" forced emergency services to shut the road between junctions 9 and 11 for up to 12 hours.

But organiser Chris Rodger nee Butcher said: "Me and my sister Anne Dykes were in the same year even though there are 16 months between us. We were allowed to take the 11plus twice because there weren't enough teachers because they'd all gone off to war and not come back. We meet up because we can - and it's fun! We're lifelong friends".

PE mistress Bobbie Primmer was there to enjoy the fun as well - although French teacher Bobbie Sanderson couldn't make it.
