Theatre Royal Winchester launched their traditional family pantomime Peter Pan in true panto style with an audience participation song! Oh yes they did!

Crowds joined Peter Pan (Nichole Bird), Mrs Smee (Julian Eardley) and his panto son Smee (Ed Thorpe) in The Brooks Shopping Centre with a rousing performance of ‘What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor’. The panto trio then enjoyed some panto mayhem as they strolled up the high street back to the theatre to take part in the theatre’s Open Weekend festivities.

This year’s pantomime is produced by the same in house production team that brought last year’s sell-out run of Cinderella: James Barry (Writer and Director), Simon Slater (Music) and Rachel Fox (Production Design). Returning to the cast this year is the extraordinary Julian Eardley as the wonderful dame Mrs Smee and last year’s Dandini, Nichole Bird as Peter Pan. Joining them will be Winchester panto newcomers Jonathan Hansler (Hook, Mr Darling), Ed Thorpe (Smee), Louise Peters (Mrs Darling / Mermaid) Eleanor Bennett (Wendy) and Indigo Griffiths (Tiger Lily).

The professional actors will be joined by a cast of local children playing the roles of The Lost Boys and dancers.

The pantomime is an adaptation from the novel Peter Pan by JM Barrie and will be at Theatre Royal Winchester from Tuesday 5 December 2017 to Monday 1 January 2018. Tickets available from theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk and from the box office 01962 840 440.
