He was a genuine old school mechanic who loved cars and had devoted his life to keeping them on the road.

Friends and loved ones of Colden Common mechanic Terry Layton, gave him a send off to remember, with a grand procession of over a dozen of the classic cars and motorbikes that he loved so much.

The much respected family man and village mechanic's, final journey started in the MOT bay of the Village Garage, which he had run for the past 40 years.. He was then taken to the Wessex Vale Crematorium in considerable style in a 1936 Rolls Royce, followed closely behind by two cars that had previously been owned by the Sultan of Brunei.

Tom Layton, Terry's son, said that he would always have fond memories of his father, a quiet man, with a love of Rolls Royces, surrounded by cars and memorabilia, working on cars at the family owned garage.

Mr Layton wished to thank Funeral Director Paul Capper for organising the procession and for making sure his dad had the perfect funeral.

He also wanted to thank the staff at the Countess Mountbatten hospice as well as friends and family for looking after him during his illness.
