A SERIOUS crash closed a Hampshire motorway for six hours this morning.
Police closed the M3 in both directions at about 3am following the crash, which happened between junctions 12 and 13 near Eastleigh.
The southbound carriageway was reopened at about 7am. The northbound carriageway remained shut until shortly before 9am while police carried out an investigation.

A Hampshire Constabulary statement said: "Please avoid the area this morning if at all possible.
"We will update you as soon as the road reopens.
"Thank you for your patience while we deal with this incident."
It is not known if anyone has been injured in the crash.
