PLANS to extend Bishop's Waltham Infant and Junior School have been approved.

The application for the site on Oak Road is for a three classroom single storey extension to the Infant School and a two storey single classroom extension to the Junior School.

It will also including some refurbishment to existing buildings and additional staff car parking.

The expansion will allow the capacity of the school to be increased.

Bishop’s Waltham Infant School will be able to offer up to 90 places in Year R for ages four plus from September 2018, and Bishop’s Waltham Junior School 90 places in Year 3 from September 2019.

In March, a cash boost of £3.37m from the county council was agreed towards the expansion to be shared between the Junior and Infant schools.

The news also follows Bishop's Waltham Junior School being rated 'Good' at its recent Ofsted inspection, having been told to improve back in 2014.

Construction is due to start in the autumn with a planned completion of summer 2018.
