A WOMAN has been left with serious head injuries after a crash of a busy Winchester road.

A 79-year-old pedestrian was rushed to Southampton General Hospital after being hit by a car in St Cross Road, Winchester, at 2.50pm on Saturday. The crash happened between the Bell Inn pub and the junction with Mead Road.

It involved a Vauxhall Corsa, which was travelling towards Winchester city centre.

The woman is still being treated in hospital but the driver of the Corsa, a 20-year-old man from Winchester, was not injured.

PC Paul Blum said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward and speak to us. If you saw what happened and haven’t already spoken to us, please get in touch.”
