A MAJOR coach company says it is riding to the rescue of Winchester as rail passengers face a month of rail disruption.

The UK’s largest coach operator National Express is seeing bookings on its Winchester to London route increase by nearly 15 per cent year-on-year while Waterloo Station is partially closed for engineering works causing chaos to train services.

The works are set to continue for a three-week period (5th-28th August) during which passengers using South West Trains, including from Winchester, face disruption including a reduced services and delays, and have been advised by the train company to avoid travelling.

They say that during this time, bookings on the Winchester to London coach services have significantly increase during the three week period and has added hundreds of extra seats to cope with the demand.

National Express UK Coach Commercial Director John Boughton said: “With train services from Winchester to London set to be disrupted for three weeks, we are stepping up by adding extra seats to our services so that as many people who still want to travel can.”
