MEON Valley MP George Hollingbery has met pupils from Owslebury to is discuss education for children in the developing world.
George invited Year 6 students Jaime Devereux and Noah Stroud to Westminster to talk about the Send My Friends to School campaign that is aiming to help the estimated 263 million children worldwide who do not have lessons.
The trio also discussed how George became an MP and what qualifications are needed when they met up in his office.
“It was a delight to meet Jaime and Noah to discuss the incredibly important issue of education in the developing world,” said George.
“Their passion for the campaign was obvious and they were well informed and keen to hear my thoughts. I said I would write to the Department for International Development and ask them to get in touch with the school to give students a briefing on what the Government is doing to help with this issue.
“We certainly have one of the world’s biggest aid budgets, so it is clearly a priority for the Government to help developing countries on all sorts of issues, including education.”
