The 2017 Winchester Criterium and Cyclefest raced through the streets of Winchester in beautiful sunshine.

This year the event, which was the best attended yet, expanded into new locations in the city, with Abbey Gardens hosting family activities as well being the start and finish of the Family Ride.

The Criterium Races began at 11am on Sunday June 11 with the children’s races of different age groups from Under 8's to Under 12's and Under 14's.

The afternoon saw the Under 16s and Elite Races for adults, all of which incorporated the South Regional Race Championships.

There was also the chance to take part in many other bike and non-bike related events - youngsters could try strider bikes, there was a professional stunt show, a 250m roller sprint challenge, bike mechanics from Winchester Cycle Hub gave advice and free bike check-ups, and in Abbey Gardens there was pond dipping, children's games, face-painting and country craft stalls.

The winner of the Elite Men's Race was Ian Field and the Elite Women's winner was Christine Robson.

The race winners will be published on the Winchester Criterium website.
