IT is netball - but not like you know it.

Walking Netball sessions will be launching at River Park Leisure Centre.

It is a slowed down version of the game with adapted rules to suit all abilities and ages within a relaxed, fun and social environment.

The sessions have been launched by Winchester City Council in partnership with England Netball and Places for People Leisure.

Netball Development Officer for England Netball, Carey McCormick said “It is fantastic to be in partnership with Winchester City Council and we are delighted to be working together on the new weekly Walking Netball sessions. Huge credit to Lizzie Butcher, Winchester City Council’s Multi- Sport Activator, who is one of our passionate and enthusiastic qualified walking netball hosts and who leads these sessions."

The weekly sessions cost just £3 per person and run on Wednesdays from 4.00-5.00pm. They are led by a friendly walking netball host who will meet you at the Leisure Centre’s reception. There is no need to book – just show up on the day to play.

Sports Development Manager Calum Drummond added: “One of the Council’s aims is to increase the amount of people taking part in physical activity. These new sessions have expanded our current activity programme and will give people the chance to try a fun, exciting sport on a regular basis."
