IT is one of the places where drivers on the A34 can get some respite and refreshment away from the road.

Sutton Scotney Services is not just popular with car drivers though, its staff are celebrating after winning a prestigious award.

Sutton Scotney Motorway Service Area won the Days Inn of the Year’ and ‘Health and Safety Site of the Year’ at Roadchef’s annual Heroes of the Year awards ceremony, fighting off tough competition from the company’s 30 sites across Britain.

Roadchef holds the glittering award ceremony each year to reward and recognise the work of its team members in a variety of areas of the business, including retail shops, hotels, catering operations and support office.

All Roadchef sites are audited throughout the year to ensure the highest health and safety standards, which is an essential part of the business control process.

Site director Dawne Cartwright said: "We are all delighted to bring home two awards. The team has worked exceptionally hard this year to overcome challenges and it’s fantastic to see our focus has certainly paid off.

"Last year marked the first time we won an award since joining the business, and this year we’ve won two we’re prepared to rise to the challenge of scooping even more awards next year."
