VILLAGERS are making one last effort to get changes made to a junction near Winchester.

Campaigners are calling on the county council to alter the road layout at the Cart and Horses junction at Kings Worthy.

The decision day of the executive member for environment and transport is on Thursday March 23 at 2pm.

Local residents has collected 1,500 signatures for a petition to get alterations made.

One campaigner Jill Prince said: "We decided to use a plan to share our observations. Some of the incidents are so dangerous and happen so quickly that you just can't believe it. We invited the decision maker to visit the site, but he refused, so we'll be taking along a model to the meeting.'

David Learmonth described how he had even seen one driver reverse across the A33 out of junction. "We want to use these examples to show how desperately we need change here' he said. 'We are hoping that the Decision Day on the 23rd March will bring real change."

Jackie Porter, County Councillor, said: "I have never had so many complaints about one junction as this one- from right across the area, from Sutton Scotney to Alresford too. Drivers are confused. Without clarity, this junction remains dangerous. We will continue to campaign for a safer and slower junction until something is done."
