WINCHESTER Photographic Society celebrated their triumphant win of the Southern Counties Photographic Federation (SCPF), having come first in the top league.

Entering eight prints that were scored by a different judge on eight occasions in eight different camera clubs, Winchester got the highest score, just beating their rivals, Chichester Camera Club.

SCPF’s members total 50 clubs, so Winchester are proud of their win. Club president, Eric Blake, said: “We’re a big club, with some very talented photographers, and it’s wonderful that their skills and creativity have been recognised in this way.”

Particularly remarkable was the achievement of Steve Green, whose Iceland print, ‘Westerhorn Beach’, received full marks in five consecutive judgings.

The society marked their win with champagne, and cupcakes decorated with the winning images.

The committee also took the opportunity to award honorary life membership to Graham Barber for his devoted service as Treasurer and Membership Secretary of the Society for the last six years.
