WINCHESTER Nightshelter has been open to more people in the cold snap.
The shelter on Jewry Street has been taking an extra five people on top of the usual 17.
Roll out beds are brought out and one woman has been sleeping in the dining room.
Another two people have been accommodated in bed and breakfast, said a spokesman.
It means that only people who do not want help are braving the sub-zero temperatures that have dropped to around -5 degrees.
The shelter has had extra staff in to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Manager Michele Price checks the temperatures at 7pm daily and can invoke the emergency procedures.
