YOUNG people in Winchester are set to benefit from monthly job bulletins.

Winchester City Council has been working with Southampton City Council to produce the electronic bulletin which includes information on a range of jobs at local authorities, hospitals, university and private sector jobs.

It also includes information about volunteering opportunities, apprenticeships and traineeships.

Winchester City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economy and Estates, Cllr Steve Miller said: “Although NEET (those not in employment, education and/or training) figures are low when compared to other areas, for each young person affected it is a very major issue.

“The bulletin complements other support available for young people looking to start out on their journey to employment or training.

“The Council also offers an employment mentoring programme as well as apprentice grants and access to work grants for job seekers living in the Winchester District. We even support local Wheels to Work scheme to help people get to jobs.”

The new bulletin was requested at a meeting of careers advisers from local schools and colleges which is coordinated by Winchester City Council.

It will be sent out on a monthly basis and can be downloaded and to find out more visit:www.winchester.gov.uk/business/employment/local-careers-advisors-group/
