HE is one of Hampshire's most adorable - and rarest - new arrivals.

This bundle of fluff will eventually grow up into an Amur tiger, one of the world's most endangered creatures.

And now the Hampshire zoo where he was born is looking for Chronicle readers to help give him a name.

The youngster was among the first three tiger cubs to be born at Marwell Zoo in more than a decade.

One of a litter of three, the cub's sisters, Zima and Bailla, have already been named by keepers.

Zima is named after a town in the Amur-Ussuri region of far east Russia, where the cubs' few remaining wild relatives still live, while the name Bailla is made up using a mixture of her parents Milla and Bagai's names.

But their keepers have struggled to agree on a name for their brother.

Now they are asking the public to pick from their three favourites - Luca, a Greek name meaning bringer of light; Titan, after the creatures in Greek mythology and the planet Saturn's largest moon; and Makari, a Russian name meaning blessed.

And anyone who votes will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a family ticket to Marwell Zoo.

Marc Fox from Marwell said: "Milla is looking after her cubs very well. She’s attentive, protective and very patient with her excitable youngsters.

"It’s great to watch the cubs finding their feet, running around and exploring their new surroundings.

"It was very hard for the keepers to agree on a name for the male.

"We’ve picked our favourites so we hope that a public vote will help us decide."

Milla and Bagai are part of European endangered species Breeding Programme which maintains a healthy captive population of tigers and preserves critical genetic diversity for the future.
