POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was knocked off his bike in Droxford.

The 47-year-old man was cycling along the B2150 East Hoe Road at around 3.35pm yesterday when he was struck from behind by a vehicle door mirror.

However, the vehicle involved failed to stop at the scene, leaving the rider lying injured on the verge with minor injuries to his shoulder, ribs and arm.

The vehicle is described as large and black, possibly a van. It was heading in the direction of Denmead.

PC Peter Sarginson said: “We would appeal to anyone who saw this incident to come forward and speak to us.

“We believe the driver of the vehicle would have been aware of the impact of the collision due to the injury sustained by the cyclist, so we would urge them to come forward and help us with our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Sarginson on 101, quoting 44160272335, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
