IT is the new Winchester shop which is hoping to get everyone on board.

Skateboarding store Beans and Boards, which is on the former premises of the closed down legal highs shop in Stockbridge Road, opened last month.

Co-owners Jack Vear, 22, from Southampton, and Kyle Judge, 31, say that it has been going from strength-to-strength.

Jack, who used to run Route One in The Marlands in Southampton was approached by Kyle who was manager of Size? in Southampton.

Jack said they both saw it as an opportunity after the refurbished £270,000 skate park at River Park Leisure Centre reopened.

He said: “We have seen how massive the skateboarding scene is in Winchester when the parks were built so there was a big market and we thought that a city with skateparks needs a skate shop.”

It also sells coffee as well as boards, parts, decks, wheels, bearings and skateboarding clothes, and Jack hopes it will get involved with competitions and skateboarding jams.

He added: “The support has been absolutely amazing. We could not ask for a better start we have already got our regulars and we have a variation of customers of different ages.”
