IT BROUGHT together many of the area’s up-and-coming musicians.

Winnall Rock School’s 12th Summer Show showcased 30 young musicians at Winchester’s Theatre Royal.

There were performances of catchy songs from schoolgirl band Frozen Hearts and exuberant rocking cliches from youngsters in The Pickheads.

Many more youngsters were able to show off their singing talents at the famous Jewry Street theatre.

After watching the talent on show, Winchester mayor Cllr Jane Rutter congratulated the winners of this year’s awards who had shown particular passion and effort in their music making.

The Hyde Rangers, formed in the rock school’s adult workshops, also excitedly made their stage debut and were cheered on by the enthusiastic audience whipped up by compere Chris Redmond.

A moving and joyful rendition of David Bowie’s Heroes from everyone topped off the evening.
